Sidewalks Master Plan

The purpose of the plan is to look at sidewalks strategically and to have a road map for connecting sidewalks throughout the City, thereby fulfilling the City’s strategic goals to be safe and have vibrant neighborhoods. This makes the City more walkable, keeps students off busy roads allowing them to walk safely to schools, and gives residents an alternative to driving.
Repaving Master Plan

The repaving plan was developed using a need-based approach (“worst first”) while providing an equitable distribution of resources annually among the four City Council Districts. The program focuses predominately on local streets, but will also occasionally encompass two-lane collector and arterial roadways.

Adopt a Street

The Adopt-a-Street/Spot program reduces the number of streets that rely on city resources for maintenance. When businesses and individuals assume the responsibility of maintaining specific streets within the city, not only do they free up city resources, but they help create colorful and creative green spaces throughout our city.

Budget

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) provides oversight for the total budget function in the City. The department assists the Management Team and City Council in the budgetary process starting with the development of the annual budget and the adoption under the state TRIM requirements.

Port St. Lucie has one of the lowest municipal property tax rates for a full-service city in Florida. The City strives to provide a high level of service for the most cost-effective rate.
Debt

The City’s long-term debt has been reduced as a result of principal payments and refinancing, when appropriate. From a high of more than $1.042 billion debt in FY 2009-10 to a projected $665 million for the FY 2022-23 based upon budgeted principal payments.
